So, Matthew is going on his wild boar hunting trip this week. He's leaving early Wednesday morning and returning late Friday night. So he won't see baby awake again until Saturday! Hopefully, we don't go crazy by ourselves!! But, I did have a few things planned for us to do but, I looked at the weather and it's supposed to snow Thursday, Friday and Saturday! :( Well, at least Wednesday is going to be nice enough (60s!) to go out and about. Oh, also Emma is getting very good at scooting! This is usually the prelude to crawling....so we'll see....
Emma has also been "singing" a lot lately! Well, I call it singing. It's like her "talking" just really, REALLY and I mean REALLY HIGH PITCHED! It's pretty funny, I've been trying to get a video of it. But, for now this is Emma on 2-24-09, her first time trying sweet peas.

Last Few Weeks Recap

Okay, we've been really busy so now it's time to get back to bloggin! Emma still has no teeth and hasn't said any recognizable words yet. Emma got a booster seat from Toys "R" Us, so now she has her very own chair to eat in! What a big girl! And it has a toy tray that attaches onto the eating tray. So, she can play when she's done eating that way Matthew and I can have our dinner too. We also got a new car Honda Civic, as you may or may not know our wonderful Honda Accord was totalled by a genius who ran a red light and nearly killed Matthew. The Civic isn't as nice as the Accord but, at the end of this lease we'll probably go back to an Accord. We couldn't get an Accord again because they're way more expensive than they we're 2 years ago when when leased the black one. It's confusing I know. But, anyway we have a new car so hopefully this one will make it to the end of its leasing term.
Now, onto Boo...she's getting more mobile. Although she doesn't crawl yet, she scoots on her tummy pretty well, I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Why, just last night she was on her tummy playing with Matthew and she pushed herself up onto her bottom. She went from tummy to sitting up as if it was nothing!! Like I said, it's only a matter of time!
Also Boo is eating her oatmeal very well, she can't seem to get enough of it! We're going to be trying rice cereal next, I'm sure she can't wait!

Do They Make a Dolphin Call?

Well, Emma has been going thru her grunting stage and now she's onto bigger and better things like...well...it kind of sounds like a Flipper. Ehhhh! Ekkkkk! Something like that :) It at least sounds happier than the grunting. The grunting sounded angry and frustrated sometimes, even when she was happy. But, none the less...Emma is such a cuddle bug! I love it! She always wants to cuddle with you or give/receive hugs. For example she could be n the middle of playing and she'll turn to me and hug me then rub her face and me, smile and go back to playing. It's about the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Back onto the topic of making noise, no she still hasn't said any words yet :(
We got Emma a toy penguin and she is scared to death of it. This picture is of that terrifying penguin, doesn't he look dreadful?
Anyhow, I'm going to post a video to go along with post. Enjoy!

nom, nom, nom...

Wow, baby girl is growing! She started solid foods on Tuesday, February 3. She absolutely L-O-V-E-S it. Right now she's just getting oatmeal cereal but, she can't seem to get enough! I thought it would be really messy and she'd spit a lot out but, no momma's little piggie eats it all. Today she started crying when she ran out! I had to mix up another couple bites, jeez! I'm glad she likes it, she really loves to breastfeed and hates the bottle so we were worried she wouldn't take to solid foods. Wow, no need to worry now. We wanted to wait until after her 6 month well baby check to start, she has enough food allergies/intolerance's as it is. But, of course the Dr. looked at me like I was crazy, again! I really don't like him for a pediatrician for Emma. We've been looking for another but so far unsuccessful :( Anyway... Emma is babbling & "singing" all day and all night for that matter! She talks so much she does it in her sleep, I know, I sleep right next to her. We call it the family bed. And yes, so many have their opinions about it but, guess what its my baby! It's so much easier to feed her at night, I just roll towards her she eats and never really wakes up. The best advice I ever received (read) was that of Dr.Sears (askdrsears.com) he says '...baby should sleep where everyone gets the best sleep...." And for us, that's in our bed with us, I know that doesn't work for everyone but it works great for us. And no, she will not be sleeping in our bed when she 15 (everyone always asks). We'll know when it's time to make the change, probably when she starts sleeping though the night. Here's a picture of her eating her oatmeal for supper, enjoy!!!

She was so brave

Boo went to the Dr. today for her 6 month well baby check-up. She had to get 3 shots and an oral rotavirus vaccine, yuck! Poor baby cried and cried. She tried to be brave, her bottom lip was sticking out. Then, it started to quiver and then, she couldn't hold back any longer. I think I hate shots as much or even more than her! But, she did well overall. She got the go ahead for solid foods. So we will be starting those soon! Not looking forward to the stinky poops that come along with it though!! For head size and length she was in the 25-50% range and for weight she was in the 95%!! That's my girl!!! :) Here are some more park photos from this past weekend.

I guess we're staying...

Iknow this is a blog dedicated to Emma Bear..but I have to share!
Matthew got a new job!! Not only is it a promotion but it's way less stressful, so that is a big plus. A ton of people interviewed for it too. Matthew knew some of the people who applied and they were more qualified than he is but, he still got it! We're so proud of him. And here's the best the best part...it's non-deployable! Yea! That means as long as he has this job he won't have to go overseas! Also, Matthew applied for OCS (officer candidate school). He finds out in a couple weeks if he's accepted. That starts the end of March and lasts about 18 months, so we will be here for at least the next 20 months, if he gets in.
Back to baby...I've been trying everyday to get Emma to say "mama" or "emma" or "baba" or "dada" anything really. She talks so much and makes so many different sounds I know she could figure it out, we'll keep you posted. Anyway, we had another "beautiful" day on Saturday so we went to the park again. It was right before her nap, as you can tell from the pictures, she looks tuckered out. Also, there were so many "big" kids at the park she was watching them all play and run around, just sort of taking it all in.
A cute thing she's been doing for a few months, but more so recently is playing peek-a-boobear. She loves it laughs and laughs. I'll have to record it next time and post it so you all can see. Here are some pictures of her this weekend at the park.
